YouGov poll: 55% of UK adults without life cover

More than half of UK adults are compromising their families’ financial security by failing to invest in life insurance.

A YouGov poll of 2,000 people conducted on behalf of Beagle Street revealed 55 per cent of respondents have yet to purchase life cover.

Some 39 per cent of adults believed it was too expensive to fork out for, while 19 per cent said they simply had not given it any thought.

Savvy respondents that did take out life insurance revealed the primary reason for doing so was to cover the cost of the mortgage in the event of their death.

The second biggest reason for investing in life cover was for protecting their partner, while 31 per cent of people prioritised their children’s financial future.

Director of Beagle Street Matthew Gledhill said: “Far too many Britons are at risk of financial difficulty should an adult in the household pass away.

“The average UK household owes more than £55,000, and many of them have no provision in place.”

Seeking the guidance of a financial advisor could help with finding the right policy for your needs.
