Personal finance expert: Follow gut feelings

A personal finance expert has advised Britons to follow their gut instinct when it comes to money management, saying they should not allow aggressive marketing to cloud their judgement.

Georgina Burnett, presenter and life coach, states: "We can make emotional financial decisions, where we have a real desire to spend or save money. Listen to what your gut is saying - generally it knows what is right."

This means personal finance decisions such as whether to make savings or pay off debt could be informed by quiet reflection, although finding an adviser should give individuals expert support when it comes to important money matters.

Recent research by Yakult revealed many Britons do make good choices based on instinct, with three-quarters claiming to have picked the right proverbial path in this way.

When it comes to professional matters, around 25 per cent of those questioned said the tactic had helped them secure a better job.
