Internet 'helpful' for comparing personal finance products

Personal finances products such as credit cards can be compared on the internet and this might bring down costs for consumers, an expert has suggested.

Justin Modray of candidmoney.com points out Britons should consider the interest rate on such packages rather than "chasing high credit limits", an attitude that might help with long-term financial planning.

He states: "There are some attractive credit card deals around and the Internet makes it easier than ever to find them."

Such personal finance products are used by some to supplement savings, but the costs can accumulate, as a report by moneysupermarket.com reveals 46 per cent of Britons do not pay off their balance in full at the end of the month, meaning charges and add-ons may mount.

It noted using a zero per cent balance transfer card could save individuals £279 on average, something that may appeal to many, as one-fifth of UK residents are concerned about debts on their plastic.
