Adult children making savings by holidaying with parents

New research has revealed that millions of parents are taking their adult children on holiday with them, some of whom are as old as 40.

LV= found that two thirds of these will be subsidising the whole trip for their offspring, costing them £380 on average.

When asked why they are letting their children holiday with them, 42 per cent said it was a treat and 37 per cent explained that they want the family to be together. A quarter said that if they didn't pay for it, their children wouldn't get to have a holiday at all.

However, despite not contributing towards the costs, 88 per cent of children will have a hand in choosing the destination.

"Young adults, and even some middle-aged ones, are trying to save money where they can and holidaying with the parents is becoming a growing trend," commented Selwyn Fernandes, managing director of LV= travel insurance.
